Diös and Nordic Choice Hotels to build a hotel in central Umeå

Diös has signed a letter of intent with Nordic Choice Hotels to build a Clarion hotel in a primary location in central Umeå. The hotel will be built in the Magne neighbourhood at Storgatan 38 and will create an entirely new meeting place in the city centre. The hotel project is designed by the architects Krook and Tjäder, who have previously designed several hotels for Nordic Choice Hotels.

Discussions with Nordic Choice Hotels regarding a hotel project in the Magne neighbourhood have been ongoing for some time. Construction is planned to commence in spring 2019 and is estimated to continue for approximately two years. The hotel will be a full-scale Clarion hotel including some 280 rooms, conference facilities and a sky-bar.

- Developing central Umeå with a modern hotel and a new attractive meeting place has been in our plans for a while. It is part of our urban development plan for Umeå through which we contribute to more people wanting to spend time in the city centre. It feels good to do this together with a partner such as Nordic Choice Hotels. We have another shared hotel project in Sundsvall. We will also continue to develop Magne and central Umeå together with the municipality of Umeå, Nordic Choice Hotels and others, says Lars-Göran Dahl, Head of Business Development, Diös.
